2024 - Awards, Acknowledgements & Accolades
It was both an honor and a challenge to find our leading examples amongst the outstanding costumes worn at the ticket events at our inaugural festival.
We judged the costumes using our mission statement of:

Creativity - artistry, expressiveness, individuality, inspiration and
vision.

Ingenuity - brilliance, enterprise, flair, resourcefulness and thinking
outside the box.

Inventiveness - Giftedness, innovative, unconventional, unusualness
and quirkiness.
Things that impressed the judges
● Originality.
● Upcycling.
● Use of colour.
● Clever use of the mundane.
● If you use a paper pattern - make some changes to individualize it.
● Working with a theme.
● Tell us the story of your vision.
Masquerade Costume Ball
The leading example for Creativity was Megan Smith.
She used her inspiration of a Rococo style gown and using an upcycled wedding dress, a tablecloth and some lace to make an outfit that completed her vision.
The leading example for Ingenuity was Roscoe Dangerfield.
He used his inspiration of 18th century court dress to take unusual pieces and transform mundane objects to create his vision.
The leading example for Inventiveness was Tabitha Rosen.
She used her inspiration of a period in time along with her inventiveness and ingenuity to create her vision of an outlander gown.
Carnival Costume Extravaganza
The leading example for Creativity was Rachel Winter.
She used her inspiration of a lion patch and completed her vision by upcycling a jacket and skirt following a theme with great use of colour.
The leading example for Ingenuity was Sharon Gaynor.
She was inspired by an 18th century Worth gown and a beautiful piece of fabric. She expressed her theme in many different ways including great use of colour to complete her vision.
The leading example for Inventiveness was Lindsey Morgan.
She was inspired by the colours of upcycling sari’s. She was resourceful and unconventional in the use of the mundane to transform them into a fantastic costume.
Mad Hatter Brunch
This was a hat only judging despite the amazing costumes in the room!
The leading example for Creativity was Barbara Bishop. She had taken her creativity and inspiration to new heights.
The leading example for ingenuity was Jean Court. She turned her inspiration into a story on her hat.
The leading example for inventiveness was Eddie King. He came up with brilliant solutions to create his vision.
